Site Information

The Code

The site is hand coded by yours truly in what should be semantically correct HTML5 and CSS3. A very tiny amount of JavaScript is utilized for minor tweaks and some visual voodoo. Thankfully no rasterized images were harmed used in the site layout. Icons are vector-based fonts via the Font Awesome library. The document fonts are Lato (body) and Maven Pro (headings), sourced from the Google Fonts library. The rest of the "pretty stuff" is 100% pure cowbell CSS3 deliciousness.

Hosting & Systems

The current iteration of the site utilizes the @11ty static site generator in conjunction with Netlify (the CMS one). The resulting files are then fed into a GitHub repository and unleashed onto the WWW via Netlify (the host one). Additionally, a healthy dose of cowbell and/or fairy dust just might be employeed. Don't forget coffee...loads and loads and loads of coffee. The domain is through NameCheap.

Miscellaneous

Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read.
—Graucho Marx

Before someone brings it up, I am aware Graucho didn't come up with this quote, just reused it. However, a long long time ago...way, way, way, way, way back in 1995; I ordered some books from a "new-fangled" online retailer. They threw in a mousepad with their logo and this quote printed on it. It has stuck with me since, and I just like it. Since this is my site, the quote remains.

Interesting sidenote: I remember telling my father I might like to invest in that company, but he laughed and thought it not prudent. Should have gone with my gut, considering the company I ordered from was Amazon. Yes, that Amazon...D'oh! Actually, my father also advised me in late 1997 not to invest the moneies I got from my high-school graduation in Apple stock. D'oh! D'Oh! D'OH! While that might have been semi-prudent at the time, looking back now it definitely triggers a WTH were you thinking moment.
